Carola Dombeck

Carola Dombeck (born June 25, 1960 in Merseburg ) is a former German gymnast . Your home club was the SC Chemie Halle .

Carola Dombeck won in 1975 the GDR youth championship in all-around, on uneven bars and in horse jumping. At the GDR championship in 1976 she won the horse jumping competition and thus qualified for the Olympic team. In Montreal at the 1976 Olympic Games , after a completely unsuccessful exercise on the balance beam, she finished 33rd in the eighth fight and third place with the team. In her specialty, she made it to the finals. With a "stooped rollover somersault" (hand support-jump flip with somersault forward stooped) she finished second behind Nelli Kim in the horse jump final, tied with Lyudmila Turishcheva . For this success she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.

Carola Dombeck completed a physical education teacher training at the DHfK in Leipzig and then worked at the Institute for Teacher Training in Halle.
