Carola Horstmann
Carola Horstmann (* 1948 in Zell iW ) is a German author who writes mainly in her Alemannic dialect .
Life
After high school and four semesters at the Basel School of Applied Arts , she completed an apprenticeship as a nurse at the Psychiatric University Clinic in Basel, studied music therapy in Vienna and worked as a music therapist for several years. In the mid-1990s, she started writing: childhood memories, newspaper articles, scripts, short stories. Since 2003 she has been writing in the high Alemannic dialect of the Wiesental, the language of her childhood. Carola Horstmann now lives in Denzlingen near Freiburg, is married and has 3 children.
Carola Horstmann's texts can be found in various anthologies . In 2007 her first book with short stories in Alemannic katzegrabschtai was published by Drey-Verlag Gutach, funded by the Association of German Writers in Baden-Württemberg. In 2010 Carola Horstmann worked in Denzlingen as part of the literature summer 2010 on an evening with self-composed scenic interludes for Johann Peter Hebel , a. a. with the little one-act play Das Hexlein based on JP Lever's poem of the same name. In 2011 the volume of poetry dasche us schnee was published .
In 2015, S Spinnlikind Rosetta - Das Spinnlein Rosetta , a High German-Alemannic children's book, was published, illustrated by the author herself. In 2015 a German-English edition of the book followed under the title An Itsy-Bitsy Spider Named Rosetta - Das Spinnlein Rosetta .
In 2016 Janosch's “Oh how beautiful is Panama” by Carola Horstmann was translated into Alemannic.
In 2016 the poem "Angscht" (from "dée us schnee") was included in the new Dreyland poet path along the Rhine (Basel-Hüningen-Weil aR)
In October 2018 the second, High German-Alemannic children's book, illustrated by the author, was published: “Bravo, Bruno! How the dream snails found a new home - How the dream snails found a new home ”.
Awards
Horstmann is a double prize winner in the literature competition “The Upper Rhine Rolling Car” (2003 and 2004).
In the literature competition of Badische Zeitung, SWR and Muetterschproch-Gsellschaft 2005 she won first prize for the poem de Vulkan .
In 2014, Horstmann received a work grant for the third time from the sponsorship group for German writers in Baden-Württemberg. At the dialect literary competition "Lahrer Murre" she received 1st prize in the prose category in 2015.
