Carolin Pienkos

Carolin Pienkos (* 1970 in Osnabrück ) is a German-Austrian theater director.

Live and act

She studied German language and literature as well as cultural studies in Bremen. During her studies, she already gained experience as an assistant director at various theaters. After completing her studies, she began working as an assistant at the Burgtheater in Vienna, where she mainly worked with Andrea Breth .

From 2002 she staged various plays in the casino and vestibule of the Burgtheater. She staged u. a. in Hamburg, Bremen and especially in Vienna. From 2012 to 2014 she worked as a director in the stadtTheater walfischgasse in Vienna and staged several plays there. The world premiere of "C (r) ash" by Rupert Henning brought her on stage there.

Her production of the Shakespeare tragedy Coriolan ran from September 2016 at the Akademietheater Vienna. In 2019 she staged the opera Magic Flute together with Cornelius Obonya in the St. Margarethen quarry .

Private

Carolin Pienkos has been married to the actor Cornelius Obonya since 2005 and has a son with him.

Awards

  • In 2005 she was nominated for the Nestroy Theater Prize in the category of best youngsters / directors for her premiere of the play, so far away from Gerald Murphy in the vestibule of the Burgtheater in Vienna.
