Caroline Furlani ( October 28, 1847 in Vienna - after 1900) was an Austrian theater actress .

Life

Furlani, the daughter of a Viennese university professor, went to the stage at the age of 15 after having previously been trained to play the piano. A. Wollrabe directed her dramatic lessons.

She received her first engagement in Ischl, then she worked in Hamburg and Graz, where she enjoyed great popularity, then in Berlin at the Deutsches Theater and in 1893 came to Vienna at the Raimund Theater. Here she worked for many years, but mostly in insignificant roles, so that one did not really notice the talent. It was not until the portrayal of "Baroness Coutourier" in Victorien Sardous Marcelle at the Carltheater in 1898, which role she embodied with perfect delicacy in language and demeanor and which gave the outbursts of emotions such as chatter the tone of perfect naturalness, that one recognized that one was entitled to a highly talented actress have to do.

After working for a few years at the Carltheater, she joined the Theater Association in der Josefstadt, where she quietly celebrated her 40th anniversary as an artist in May 1901.

She represented the subject of first mothers and proved to be an extremely effective and successful actress, especially in comic roles.
