Caroline Wenborne

Caroline Wenborne (born in Sydney ) is an Australian opera singer of the vocal range soprano . She has been a member of the Vienna State Opera ensemble since 2007 .

Life

Wenborne studied singing at her hometown conservatory and has won a number of singing competitions. In the 2005/2006 season she was a member of the Opera Studio of the Cologne Opera , in the following season she was a scholarship holder of the Opera Foundation Australia at the Vienna State Opera , where she made her debut in 2007 as Giannetta in L'elisir d'amore . She has been a regular member of the Staatsoper ensemble since autumn 2007.

Her repertoire includes central Mozart roles such as the Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro , the Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte , the Donna Anna in Don Giovanni or the First Lady in the Magic Flute . But she also sings a number of Verdi and Wagner roles, such as Desdemona (in Otello ) and Alice Ford (in Falstaff ) or Freia (in Rheingold ), Gerhilde (in Walküre ), as well as Gutrune and Third Norm (in of Götterdämmerung ). Wenborne sings Mascha and Chloë (in Queen of Spades ) and Emma (in Khovanshchina ) in Russian, Antonia (in Les Contes d'Hoffmann ) and Javotte (in Manon ) in French, and the title role in Rusalka in Czech .
