Eberhard Waechter Medal

The Eberhard Waechter Medal is a sponsorship award for young artists from the field of music theater . The medal is named after the baritone singer Eberhard Waechter .

From 1997 to 2007, on the initiative of the entrepreneur Leo Wallner (long-time director of Casinos Austria AG, which donated the prize) and the Vienna State Opera Director Ioan Holender, the EUR 8,700 prize was awarded to young up-and-coming artists.

The winners of the award include a. Juan José Lopera (1997), Ileana Tonca (1999), Michelle Breedt (2000), Johannes Chum (2001), Genia Kühmeier (2003), Michaela Selinger (2005), Janina Baechle , Daniela Fally (2006), Caroline Wenborne and Elisabeth Kulman (2007). The sponsorship award received u. a. Luca Pisaroni (2001).
