Caroline Winterer
Caroline Winterer (* 1966 ) is an American historian .
Life
She holds the Anthony P. Meier Family Professorship in Humanities at Stanford University and is also a professor of history and, out of courtesy, of ancient studies . She has been the director of the Stanford Humanities Center since 2013. She received her BA from Pomona College and her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan .
Her specialty is American history before 1900, in particular the history of ideas , political theory and the history of science .
