The Carretera Nacional N-IV is a national road in Spain . With a total length of 680 kilometers, it was the second longest of the six national roads starting in a star shape from Madrid and leading to the outer limits of Spain. Today the route only exists on an approx. 80 km long section parallel to the AP-4 motorway .

course

The Carretera Nacional N-IV led from the capital Madrid via Córdoba and Seville to Cádiz . This route was established around 1940.

In many sections, the national road has already been replaced or expanded to become the A-4 motorway. These are the Madrid - Seville and Jerez de la Frontera - Cádiz sections . The still existing N-IV runs parallel to the AP-4 motorway between Seville and Jerez de la Frontera . The A-4 and AP-4 motorways run parallel to each other between Jerez de la Frontera and Cádiz. The old stretch of the national road was expanded and renamed on this section to the highways CA-31 , CA-32 and CA-33 .

The sections that were not expanded to form the A-4 motorway were rededicated as the Carretera Nacional N-IVa . These are the sections at Villarta de San Juan , Santa Cruz de Mudela , Almuradiel , El Carpio , Carmona and the Los Casinos -Córdoba and Rodamontes - La Carlota routes .
