Carrie Ng

Carrie Ng ( Chinese  吳家麗  /  吴家丽 , Pinyin Wú Jiālǐ , Jyutping Ng ⁴ Gaa ¹ lai ⁶ , Yale Ng Ka-Lai ; born November 30, 1963 in Kowloon , Hong Kong ) is a Chinese actress who works mainly in Hong Kong feature film productions from the area of the drama and action film occurs. She became known and famous worldwide for her role in Naked Killer , alongside Chingmy Yau and Simon Yam . Her career, which she started in 1982, includes 100 films.

life and work

In 1981, during the final regular school year, Ng applied for an internship at the Chinese broadcaster TVB, which she accepted immediately. After that, she was given a place to work as an actress. Her conservative parents had hoped for other plans for their daughter. The mother still had the prospect that if she dropped out of the TV business, her daughter could go back to school. So Ng started as a young actress. There, however, she was only offered supporting roles with the same image of women that was favored by the producers. After her time at the TV broadcaster, she left TVB in 1987.

After she had made an impression in City on Fire , more and more role offers came that were denied her at the time. She was cast in 1992 by director Wong Jing in Naked Killer , in which she did not consider her villain role a career killer . Although she was also cast in various Cat III films, she always managed to reinterpret her role type and convince her acting.

She won awards for her roles in Remains of a Woman , 1993 (Golden Horse Award) and The Kid , 2000 ( Hong Kong Film Awards ). She was nominated u. a. for her performances in City on Fire , 1987 and The Lovers (both Hong Kong Film Awards).

Private

Her mother was a housewife, her father a simple worker. She has two older brothers and a younger sister.
