Carse (unit of measure)

Carse was a French volume and grain measure for dry goods. It was quite different in size. The measure was widespread in Sully and Gien in central France.

  • Sully 1 Carse = 806 Parisian cubic inches = 15.181816 liters
  • Gien 1 Carse = 806 Paris cubic inches (also 839 Paris cubic inches = 16.642 liters)
  • 1 carse = 256.79 Parisian cubic inches = 3 3/5 measure (Wiener) = 5.0937 liters
