Carsten Rühl

Carsten Rühl (born July 16, 1970 in Berlin ) is a German basketball official .

Life

Rühl, who actively played basketball himself, completed an apprenticeship as an advertising salesman and then worked in marketing. At the beginning of 1998 he moved to the Hamburg advertising and marketing agency Ballyhoo , the company of Jens Holtkötter , the "maker" of the BCJ Hamburg basketball team . At Ballyhoo, Rühl was promoted to managing director. In January 1999 he became the full-time manager of the BCJ Hamburg, which was promoted to the Bundesliga in spring 1999. In March 2000 they separated.

From July 2001 to February 2008, Rühl was responsible for marketing at Bundesliga club Alba Berlin . He described the Berlin team as a role model for the BCJ during his tenure in Hamburg. In 2017, together with Carsten Kerner , he founded the HCN Human Care Network , a non-profit organization that carries out and supports aid projects.
