Caru Alves de Souza

Caru Alves de Souza (born 1979 in São Paulo ) is a Brazilian director , screenwriter and co-founder of Tangerina Entretenimento together with the filmmaker Tata Amaral. She has a degree in history from the University of São Paulo.

Her debut film De menor premiered at the San Sebastián International Film Festival before winning Best Picture at the Rio International Film Festival . She directed two medium-length documentaries for Brazilian TV Cultura and ten episodes of the documentary series Causando na rua for CINEBRASiLTV. Her film Meu nome é Bagdá premiered at the Berlinale in February 2020 and was nominated for the Teddy Award .
