Casa Piria de Bertón

The Casa Piria de Bertón , also known as Palacio Piria Chico , is a building in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo .

The building, which was erected following a building permit from 1930, is located in Barrio Pocitos on Avenida Brasil 2355 as well as on Bulevar Artigas 1198 and Calle Charrúa 2362 . Together with the neighboring Plaza Varela , it is located on a street corner typical of Montevideo, which is characterized by tall trees and buildings of particular architectural value.

The architect Enrique Durán Guani was responsible for building the Casa Piria de Bertón . Originally designed as a residential building, the building now houses offices in which the health insurance company Summum has its headquarters. The building was commissioned by Francisco Piria , who played an important pioneering role in the history and development of the Barrios Pocitos. He had the building built for his daughter. Casa Piria de Bertón has been classified as a building of particular interest by the city council.
