The Casa Vaeza , also known as Casa del Partido Nacional , is a building in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo .

The building, erected in 1887, is located in the Ciudad Vieja on Calle Juan Carlos Gómez 1384 between Sarandí and Rincón streets on the edge of the Plaza de la Constitución . The architect of Casa Vaeza, which was originally designed as a residential and commercial building, was engineer Luigi Andreoni . It now serves as the seat of the Partido Nacional . On the ground floor and basement is herreristisch oriented daily newspaper El Debate housed. Casa Vaeza is owned by the Uruguayan Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC). The very well-preserved 19-meter-high, three-storey building covers an area of ​​460 m². Its facade architecture shows eclectic lines with Italian influences. In the early 1990s, restoration work took place inside and on the facade.

It has been classified as the Monumento Histórico Nacional since 1986 .
