The Cason Millecampi or Casone Millecampi is a small island in the south of the Venice lagoon , which belongs to the municipality of Chioggia . It has an area of 4.135 m² or 0.4135 ha and is located in the Valle Millecampi in the southwest of the lagoon. There is a single house on the island with a huge fireplace, but it has been partially destroyed. This type of house is called Cason (e) di pesca . They serve the fishermen (pescatori) as accommodation, storage and landing stage for their boats. 'Casone', derived from 'casa', means 'big house'. From here the management of the Valle da Pesca was controlled.

history

The islet that marks the northern edge of the commune of Chioggia (together with the Valli del Cornio and dei Sette Morti) was only of local importance as it is not on any of the deep channels.

Today the island is occasionally visited by fishermen and now and then by visitors to the southwestern lagoon. In the very shallow waters, however, this is often only possible at high tide.
