Caspar Bucher

Caspar Bucher (* 1554 in Austria ; † October 12, 1617 in Tübingen ) was a German philologist, philosopher and librarian.

Life

Caspar Bucher was enrolled in Tübingen in 1572 and re-enrolled in 1578. He got the Bacc. art. and in 1580 Mag. art. In 1581 he was enrolled in Heidelberg and studied theology there. Later he was rector of the Contubernium and informer for the sons of Count Solms. 1592–1617 he followed a call as professor for eloquence and Greek language at the artist faculty in Tübingen. In 1592 he took over the lecture on eloquence in 3rd grade and in 1600 the lecture of Hettler. He became a member of the Faculty Council and Senate in 1606 and has represented eloquence in 4th grade and Greek in 3rd grade since 1607. 1607–1617 he was librarian at the University of Tübingen and, upon death, also rector of the Contubernium.
