The Castello Baraing is a restored hilltop castle in the Italian municipality of Pont-Saint-Martin in the Aosta Valley .
history
The castle was built by the doctor and local philanthropist Annibale Baraing after his marriage to Delfina Bianco . The four-sided building is built in the neo-Gothic style typical of the 19th century . It was completed in 1894, a few years before the owner's death. He wanted to symbolically appear as the heir of the old Castello di Pont-Saint-Martin , which was in the upper part of the village, but with a nobler ideal of closeness to the people, just as the Dottore Baraing had worked all his life.
The Dottore's widow kept the property until 1931 and then donated it to the municipality of Pont-Saint-Martin, which housed the municipality there, where it remained until the end of the Second World War . After that, the Avviamento Professionale Regionale (German: regional company foundation) resided in the castle . After years of vacancy, it was restored and is now the headquarters of the Unité des Communes valdôtaines Mont-Rose .
