The Castello di Galatrona (also Torre di Galatrona ) is an old fortification in Bucine in eastern Tuscany.

history

The complex was mentioned as early as 963 as Canastruna as a castle with a settlement. The village and castle belonged to the Guidi until the early 14th century and later to the Tarlati from Arezzo. In 1335 the place fell to Florence , at this time a second and even older tower was documented (Torre Vecchia). Today it only exists as a ruin. Today's complex includes a very high, Romanesque tower with supporting devices for a battlement which is no longer in existence today.
