Castlefest

The Castle Festival in the Netherlands is a Medieval and Fantasy Festival. Well-known bands such as Omnia , Corvus Corax and Faun play at the concerts . The festival always takes place on the first weekend in August at Keukenhof in Lisse . The first Castlefest took place in 2005 and had 3,500 visitors. Since 2011 the festival has started with an opening concert on Thursday evening. Festival camping has also been available since 2011. In 2011 there were a total of 24,000 visitors. In 2013 the Castlefest counted 28,000 visitors. In addition to Dutch stands, German operators are also represented on the festival market. Some stands also offer books in English.
The festival consists of a medieval market , concerts, food stalls and much more. There is also a LARP village and workshops on various topics. There is a separate area for children. Many guests come in disguise, some do cosplay and / or take part in LARP. One of the highlights is the burning of the Wickerman, an oversized willow figure. The 2014 Wickerman was an owl.
