Castricianus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Castricianus (also: Castritianus ) († 137 ? In Milan ) is, according to tradition, an early bishop of Milan . In the list of bishops, he follows Barnabas , Anathalon and Gaius , but there is no reliable evidence of any holder of a bishopric for the early period, so that this information is not verifiable and rather legendary. Castricianus is assigned a term of office of 42 years, which lasted until about the end of the reign of Emperor Hadrian . If Castricianus' successor was Calimerus , however , his term of office would have to be set much later, since a year of death around 280 is assumed for Calimerus.

Castricianus is venerated as a saint . His feast day is December 1st .
