The Catharina Point (English; in Chile Punta Varoli ) is the northern headland of Robert Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It lies between Nevestino Cove in the west and Yundola Cove to the east .
Aerial photographs were taken in December 1956 as part of the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1962 after the American sealer Catharina from Stonington , who had operated in these waters between 1820 and 1821 under Captain Joseph Hardy Henfield (1786 - unknown). The Chilean name, the further background of which has not been passed down, was carried out by scientists from the 4th Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1949–1950).
