Catharine Jacobi , née Katharina Bußler , also Katharina Jacobi , (born November 4, 1837 in Berlin , † June 24, 1912 in Mannheim ) was a German theater actress .

Life

Jacobi, the daughter of a secret councilor and granddaughter of the tenorist Karl Adam Bader, enjoyed her training with Minona Frieb-Blumauer and made her debut in 1858 as "Lorle" in "Dorf und Stadt" at the Hamburg Thaliatheater, where she herself engaged in the field of youthful lovers and salon ladies has been. She had rehearsed this piece with Charlotte Birch-Pfeiffer .

After working for a year, she came to the court theater in Weimar. There she worked from 1862 to 1867 and entered a. a. also in the first performance of Shakespeare's royal dramas (April 1864 in Dingelstedt's facility) and in the first performance of the Wallenstein trilogy as "Thekla". In 1867 the talented actress received an application to the court theater in Mannheim, which she complied even after successfully completing a guest performance. Over the years, she switched from first-time lover roles to character portraits and comical old people.

In addition to her acting effectiveness, she also tried her hand at being a writer with luck. She has also worked successfully as a dramatic teacher.

Jacobi's daughter with the character actor Hermann Jacobi , Gertrude, was engaged as an actress in Zurich and Posen.
