Catherine Elizabeth Nettleton OBE, CMG (* 13. March 1960 ) is an ambassador of the United Kingdom .

Life

From 1983 to 1984 she was employed in the South America division of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). From 1984 to 1986 she acquired Mandarin language skills . From 1987 to 1989 she was the deputy consul in Beijing . From 1989 to 1991 she was in the external relations department of the EU in the FCO. From 1991 to 1995 she was First Secretary at the Embassy in Mexico City . From 1995 to 1998 she headed the Summit and Economic Relations Department at the FCO. In 1999 she was deputy of the EU's External Relations Department at the FCO. From 1999 to 2000 she was the coordinator for war crimes proceedings in the United Nations Division of the FCO. From 2000 to 2003 she was an embassy counselor in Beijing. From January to June 2004 she received further training at the Royal College of Defense Studies . From 2004 to 2005 she headed the protocol department of the FCO.
