Catherine Kling

Catherine Louise Kling (* 1960 ) is an American economist .

Career, research and teaching

Kling first studied at the University of Iowa , which she left in 1981 with a bachelor's degree in economics. In 1986 she graduated as a Ph.D. at the University of Maryland . She then worked as an associate professor and later an assistant professor of agricultural economics at the University of California, Davis . In 1993 she went to Iowa State University as an associate professor , where she was appointed full professor in 1996.

The focus of Kling's work is on issues relating to environmental economics and natural resources.

From the beginning of the 1990s, Kling took on various roles in the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists , and between 2011 and 2012 she was president of the organization. She has also served on various committees of the National Research Council and the Environmental Protection Agency .

In 2015, Kling was elected to the National Academy of Sciences .
