life and work

Ribeiro has Portuguese ancestors. She started out as an actress and performed e.g. B. 1963 in the comedy Les carabiniers by Jean-Luc Godard (as partisan). Her future husband, the musician Patrice Moullet (* 1947), also played there. After attempting suicide in 1968, she accepted an offer from Patrice Moullet to perform and record with 2bis and the Alpes group that emerged from it in 1970. They had their first breakthrough after participating in the festival in Aix en Provence in 1970. In the early 1970s they recorded a number of albums that mixed avant-garde and experimental folk and rock elements and established their reputation in France. Moullet is not only a composer and guitarist, he also uses instruments he designed himself in his band, such as a percuphone , cosmophone , stretch machine . Organist Patrice Lemoine and bassist Francis Campello also played in Alpes.

She is politically left (with sympathy for anarchists) and campaigned, among other things, for political refugees from Spain, against the Pinochet regime in Chile , for Palestinians and similar goals. In the official French media, Ribeiro and Alpes have been boycotted since 1972. Nevertheless, they performed in large halls like the Olympia and released a total of 9 albums. They also performed abroad (Cuba, Zagreb, Barcelona, Algeria and others) and, for example, at the Fête de l'Humanité of the French Communist Party. In addition to her work with Alpes and his successors, she also recorded solo albums with chansons, including her own songs and those by Moullet and, for example, by Jacques Brel , Edith Piaf , Leo Ferré .

In the 1980s she moved to the Ardennes , where she later lived in seclusion. She lived for a few years with Moullet, with whom she has a daughter Ioana, who was born in 1971. In 1984 she married the mayor of Sedan , Claude Démoulin, with whom she has a son. She released albums regularly until the 2000s (in the 1970s to 1985 with Philips, but also with Mercury).

In 1992 she experienced a comeback (live album L'amour aux Nus). As a result, there were various attempts at revival appearances with Alpes. In 2005 she performed with the group of ex-Alpes musician Francis Campello in Valenciennes and in 2008 she performed at the Bataclan in Paris.
