Catherine Ryan Hyde

Catherine Ryan Hyde (* 1955 ) is an American novelist and short story writer . Her novels were bestsellers in the United States and Great Britain, and her short stories have won numerous awards.

Life

Catherine Ryan Hyde grew up in Buffalo , New York, and also lived briefly in New York City . At 17, she graduated from high school early. From then on she worked in many areas, for example as a dog trainer or a tour guide at Hearst Castle . She currently lives in the Cambria , California area.

Professional background

Hyde achieved first successes through her short stories. During this time she also wrote her first novels. In 1997, Funeral for Horses was published as her first novel, as was a collection of 18 short stories ( Earthquake Weather ). Her breakthrough came with the 1999 book Pay It Foward (Eng. The Miracle of Innocence ), which quickly became a national bestseller and on the basis of which the film Pay It Forward (Eng. The principle of happiness ) from 2000 is based.

Since the success of Pay It Forward , Hyde has published more than 20 novels and a number of short stories.
