Caught Up is a song by US R&B singer Usher . It was first released as a single in 2005 and was originally taken from the 2004 album Confessions .

background

In collaboration with other musicians, Usher wrote the song Caught Up , in which he describes how much a single woman turned his head, even though he believed something like this would never happen to him. He tells of his first encounter with this woman and the feeling that followed, which was completely new and incomprehensible to him.

Cover

The cover of the CD shows a side portrait of the artist in different shades of gray on a reddened background with double inscription of his name. There is a split CD in the tray. On the one hand, on the left side of the CD, you can see a network of rose stems with large thorns, to which small closed rose heads are attached. The background of the left half of the CD was kept very dark and colorless. A broken heart serves as the transition to the right side, which lies directly below the center of the CD and changes from a very pale shade of red on the left half to a strong and intense red on the right side.

Here you can see blooming roses with hearts next to them. A soft green was used in the choice of color for the subsurface to remind of a meadow. With this design role the two different aspects in Usher's life are addressed, since the song describes his first experiences with love and his reputation as a heartbreaker was alluded to in the previously released album Confessions . Most noticeable, however, is the back of the packaging, as materials were used that are not only visually but also physically perceptible for the buyer, as these can be felt. It is the design of a rose head on green leaves.

The hand-made leaves are distributed over the entire surface and thus form a "new" subsurface. Only in the upper left third is a recorded flag of the artist's home country, Texas. The opened rose is supposed to symbolize the outcome of this song, since Usher recognizes his love for a woman and the happiness in his life blossoms as a result.

singing

The title Caught Up is written in 2/4 time, using the common instruments of R'n'B such as synthesizers, electric bass, percussion and electrodrums. The artist's voice is in the foreground throughout and is supplemented in the refrain by computer-controlled second voices. The mix of voice singing and soul singing results in a very harmonious but also distinctive song. The song begins with a prelude and ends with a small, gentle end credits.
