Gottfried Leiber
Gottfried Leiber (born June 18, 1929 ) is a German architect , urban planner and municipal building officer who was deputy head of the city of Karlsruhe 's urban planning office. As a city historian, he is the author of numerous publications on Friedrich Weinbrenner .
Life
Gottfried Leiber studied architecture at the Technical University of Karlsruhe with Egon Eiermann , Otto Haupt , Otto Ernst Schweizer and Adolf Bayer, among others . After the main diploma examination, he worked in Karl Selg's office , then as a research assistant at his chair for housing construction. He then worked at the Institute for Building History at Arnold Tschira in the same function.
In 1964, Leiber began working for the city of Karlsruhe in the city planning office, where he was responsible for overall urban planning ( land use planning ). From 1976 his field of activity expanded to include land use planning for the Karlsruhe neighborhood association (city of Karlsruhe and ten surrounding communities).
In 1966 Leiber's entry into the list of architects of the state of Baden-Württemberg, in 1967 he passed the state examination with the appointment of government master builder. From 1972 to 1992 Gottfried Leiber was a lecturer at the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences . During his term of office, for example, from 1972 to 1975 he participated in the incorporation negotiations of the city of Karlsruhe. From 1976 until his retirement in 1989, Leiber was deputy head of the city planning office, from 1979 as the city's chief building director .
In 1990 Leiber did his doctorate at the Institute for Building History under Wulf Schirmer with a dissertation on the urban development work of Friedrich Weinbrenner. In 2010 he was one of the founding members of the Friedrich Weinbrenner Society and was its Vice President. Gottfried Leiber is also a member of the working group for historical regional studies on the Upper Rhine .
His main research interests are the work of Friedrich Weinbrenner and the early history of Karlsruhe's urban architecture.
