Cayo Romano is an island on the north coast of Cuba in Camagüey Province . It is the largest of the more than 777 km² archipelago Jardines del Rey and belongs to the urban area of Nuevitas . The island is connected by bridges with the neighboring islands of Cayo Coco in the northwest and Cayo Paredón Grande in the southeast.

Cayo Romano is best known for its diverse bird life and is an interesting research area for ornithologists . The eastern part of the island is under the name "Humedales de Cayo Romano" under nature protection.
