Jardines del Rey ( German "Gardens of the King" ) is the name of a chain of islands on the north coast of Cuba . They are located in the north of the province of Ciego de Ávila , which lies in the middle-east of Cuba, between the provinces of Sancti Spíritus (west) and Camagüey (east).
They were baptized in 1513/1514 in honor of the then King of Spain Ferdinand II of the Catholic "Jardines del Rey".
The islands of Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo are the two best tourist islands in the archipelago. In addition to the diverse bird life ( red ibis ) and the tropical forests, the corals off the islands are particularly worth seeing.
