Caz (radio broadcaster)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Caz (own spelling: CAZ! ) Is a Dutch private radio that mainly plays pop , dance and urban . Caz launched on April 18, 2006 at 6:00 am on the former Yorin FM nationwide VHF frequency .

history

When the program started in April 2006, the station belonged to SBS Broadcasting BV , which was taken over by ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG on July 1, 2007, 14 months after the start . The SBS Broadcasting Group sold the station Caz on to the Arrow broadcasting chain. Arrow uses the former VHF frequency from Caz today for broadcasting the station Arrow Classic Rock, which until then could only be received via medium wave . This means that the station can only be received via cable, Internet and DVB-T. The station is managed by the former BNN director Gerard Timmer .

The broadcaster wanted to create a stronger connection between the radio station and the associated website. Compared to Yorin FM , the DJs are more tied to the playlists . This led, among other things, to the resignation of Yorin FM DJ Rob Stenders .

With the loss of the VHF frequency and thus also the massive loss of listeners, the variety of programs has decreased significantly. The program today consists mainly of computer-controlled content, so that live broadcasts with the remaining three moderators are the exception. The studio webcams were also turned away or switched off shortly after the takeover so that one would not see a studio that was unoccupied almost all day.

A particular highlight of the program was the weekly “Welcome to your weekend mix” by DJ Martin Pieters, which could be heard on Caz every Friday from 6:00 p.m. or was available for download as a podcast on the website . Since April 10, 2009 the "Weekend Mix" can be heard on the Dutch radio station "Radio Decibel".

From July 10, 2008 to March 10, 2009, however, the transmitter could be received again on the medium wave frequency 828 kHz. Arrow Classic Rock has been available on this medium wave frequency since March 11, 2009 .
