The Cecilienschule is a primary school and all-day school in the Berlin district of Wilmersdorf in the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district .
history
The Cecilenschule goes back to a higher girls' school that has existed since 1905 . This got its name from the Duchess Cecilie zu Mecklenburg , the fiancé of Wilhelm von Prussia , the eldest son of the German Emperor Wilhelm II . The current school building on Nikolsburger Platz was moved into in 1909. The Crown Princess Cecilie personally inaugurated the Second Girls' School and gave the school a valuable Bible, which, however, was not found after the end of the war in 1945.
Lotte Kaliski , the founder of the private forest school Kaliski , passed her matriculation examination at the Cecilenschule in 1928 .
Since August 29, 2003, the Cecilienschule has been set up as a “tied” all-day school. From Monday to Thursday, classes are compulsory until 4 p.m., on Fridays you can leave the school after lunch. Several working groups are offered for the different age groups. Teachers and educators work together in the classes. Depending on requirements, classes can also be divided for different activities. A total of around 360 students (as of October 2009) are looked after. The class size varies between 18 and 26 children. The school management is supported by a non-profit association that organizes additional activities and finances acquisitions.
