The Ceilândia Esporte Clube is a football club from Ceilândia , a satellite city around the Brazilian federal district of the capital Brasília, which is home to around 330,000 inhabitants. The association, whose colors are black and white, was founded in 1979 and is one of the traditional associations of the federal district. The club's usual mascot in Brazil is a black cat ( gato preto ). In 2010 the club won its first title with the state championship of the federal district .
history
The club emerged from Dom Bosco Esporte Clube , founded in 1963 . It was professionalized in 1978 and re-established as Ceilândia Esporte Clube on 23 August 1979 at the instigation of the then mayor of Ceilândia . The first game took place in the same year against the national champions of the federal district from the previous year Brasília FC . Ceilândia lost the game 2-1 and Risadinha became the first goalscorer in the club's history.
The first highlight in the club's history was in 1989 when it took part in Série B , the second level of the national championship , where the club ended in 31st place. Between 2004 and 2007, Ceilândia took part in the third performance level four times, with the best result here being 7th place in 2005. In 2006 the club also qualified for the Copa do Brasil , the national cup competition. In the first round, Ceilândia eliminated the EC Bahia , but then retired in the round of 32 against the Fortaleza EC .
But the greatest success of Ceilândia was the 2010 victory at the Candangão , the national championship of the Federal District . In the finals against the defending champions Brasiliense FC , the "Black Cat" got the upper hand 3-1 and 2-2. Ceilândia became the 20th club that was able to secure the championship and thus qualified for participation in the fourth national league, the Série D, in 2010 and a renewed participation in the Copa do Brasil 2011.
