Life

Malespini served as a soldier in the Spanish army in the Netherlands , later moved from place to place in Italy , doing various things that were not always righteous. He translated Brunetto Latini's Tresor into Spanish and Antonio de Torquemada's Jardin de flores curiosas into Italian. In 1609 he published a collection of 202 short stories entitled Duecento novelle , most of which were based on themes by Giovanni Boccaccio and other authors. About eighty stories, however, were invented by Malespini and reflect the stormy life story of the author.
