The Cembrit Holding A / S has more than 25 million square meters produced a major European manufacturer of facade and building panels and corrugated sheets of fiber cement . The company offers systems for the design of facades, for roof coverings, for the cladding of interior walls and functional panels for various building structures. Sales in Germany are carried out by Cembrit GmbH, founded in 2017 and based in Düsseldorf, and the building materials and roofing dealers.

history

In 1910 the Russian tsar commissioned the Danish company FLSmidth & Co. to build three plants for him for processing fiber cement . Unfortunately, the Russian Revolution broke out in 1917 before all three plants were ready for dispatch. One of the packaged systems was in the warehouse of FLSmidth & Co. for 13 years until the company decided to set up its own subsidiary, which was to deal with the production of fiber cement boards. The Dansk Eternit factory in the city of Aalborg started production in 1927.

In 1938 the name "Cembrit" was first introduced as a brand for the then small export activities of the company. It is derived from the term Cimbri, the name of a nomadic tribe from northern Denmark, who lived around 100 BC. BC conquered large parts of Europe.

Until the 1980s, the Dansk-Eternit factory grew and expanded through a series of acquisitions of other fiber cement manufacturers and distributors. The name was changed to Cembrit A / S in 2008. Today, Cembrit Holding A / S has subsidiaries in 20 countries. Their headquarters are still located in Aalborg, Denmark.

In 2014 the Swedish SoLiX Group AB decided to take over Cembrit Holding A / S and invest heavily in its plants and restructuring. SoLiX designed a growth strategy for CEMBRIT based on new products and services as well as extensive investments in production sites, research and development. Cembrit Holding A / S employs over 1,500 people worldwide.

material

Fiber cement is a particularly robust and weather-resistant building material that is suitable for all types of wall cladding, both indoors and outdoors, as well as for roofing. The combination of fibers made of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) with cellulose fibers and cement creates a building material that is as light as it is resistant and non-flammable. With fiber cement boards, slabs and panels, durable and resilient structures are created that meet the requirements for cost-effective construction, long durability and low maintenance.
