Censorinus is a very small but strikingly bright impact crater on the lunar front near the lunar equator , on the southern edge of Mare Tranquillitatis , southeast of the Maskelyne crater . East is the major side crater Censorinus A .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Roman writer Censorinus .
