Centennial Watershed State Forest is a state forest in the US state of Connecticut in the area of the parishes of Easton , Newtown , Redding , Weston . The forest comprises more than 62 km² (15,000 acres) of land on distributed plots. Dozens of parcels are spread across the southwestern part of the state. In 2002 the land was placed under protection through a partnership between the state and the Aquarion Water Company with The Nature Conservancy and has been jointly administered since then. The Conservation Land Committee (CLC) is the joint organ of this collaboration. The forest was named because of the centenary of the state forest system and is of great importance for groundwater protection.
Freetime activities
The forest is monitored by security personnel from the Aquarion Company and is only accessible with permission. However, the access authorization is so low that hiking on the Aspetuck Valley Trail and fishing at the Saugatuck Reservoir are possible without any problems.
