Krainer started in the 2008/09 season in the European Cup. From 2009 to 2014 he took part in competitions of the FIS and the World Snowboard Tour . He made his World Cup debut in November 2009 in Stockholm , which he finished in 26th place in Big Air . In 2010 he became Austrian champion in the Big Air discipline. In January 2011 he came seventh in Big Air in the World Cup in Denver and thus for the first time among the top ten in the World Cup. At the Snowboard World Championships 2011 in La Molina , he finished 17th in the Slopestyle . He achieved his best placement in the World Cup in March 2011 in Bardonecchia with fourth place in slopestyle. The following year he won 25th place in slopestyle at the 2012 Snowboard World Championships in Oslo . At the 2013 Snowboard World Championships in Stoneham he finished eighth in slopestyle. In his first Olympic participation in Sochi in 2014 , he injured himself in the third run and finished the slopestyle competition in 29th place. After the 2013/14 season he ended his career.
