Centraal Museum Utrecht
The Centraal Museum Utrecht is a 1838 founded Art Museum in Utrecht ( Netherlands ) and the oldest city museum in the Netherlands. The museum's collection includes a wide range of art: old masters, modern and contemporary art, design, fashion and a local museum.
The museum is housed in a former medieval monastery, parts of the building used to serve as an orphanage, military stables and psychiatry.
In 1999 the museum was renovated by the architects Stéphane Beel , Lieven Achtergael and Peter Versseput .
In addition to the main building, the museum also includes the nijntje museum opposite (dedicated to the draftsman Dick Bruna and his characters, especially for children) and the Rietveld Schröder House in another part of Utrecht .
