Coordinates: 41 ° 15 ′ S , 146 ° 17 ′ E The Central Coast Municipality is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Tasmania . The area is 931 km² and has about 21,500 inhabitants (2016).
Central Coast is located in the middle of the north coast of the island about 220 kilometers from the capital Hobart . The area comprises 30 districts and localities: Abbotsham, Camena, Castra, Upper Castra, Cuprona, Forth, Gawler, Gunns Plains, Heybridge , Howth, Kindred, Leith, Loongana, Loyetea, North Motton, Nietta, South Nietta, Penguin , Preservation Bay , West Pine, Preston, South Preston, Riana, South Riana, Spalford, Sprent, Sulfur Creek, Turners Beach, Ulverstone and West Ulverstone. The seat of the City Council is in Ulverstone on the coast in the north of the LGA, where about 6500 inhabitants live (2016).

The Central Coast Council has twelve members. The mayor (mayor), his deputy (deputy) and ten councilors are directly elected by the residents of the LGA. Central Coast is not divided into districts.
