The Central Library for the Blind and the North German Hearing Library for the Blind e. V. in the Hamburg-Altstadt district of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg is a facility that lends Braille books and DAISY audio books to visually impaired and blind people free of charge .

history

The library for the blind was founded in 1905. In 1983 the private law foundation Central Library for the Blind was established. The non-profit association Norddeutsche Blindenhörbücherei has existed since 1958. The association was founded by the Association of War Blind Germany and the North German associations in the German Blind Association . The foundation and the association work together.
