Centrolew was a political bloc of center and left parties in Poland , which was constituted in 1929 to fight the BBWR Józef Piłsudskis and his Sanacja .

As a result of the political struggles, the Sejm and Senate were dissolved by President Ignacy Mościcki on August 30, 1930 , followed by new elections on September 10, which gave the Centrolew Bloc a bitter defeat and the BBWR an absolute majority . The political controversy was followed by the legal one. The Centrolew protagonists were imprisoned in Brest and tried from October 26, 1931 to January 13, 1932 in Warsaw . The public prosecutor accused them of having jointly prepared a coup d'état between 1928 and September 9, 1930 , but this was thwarted by their arrest. The alleged “ putschists ”, including the former Prime Minister Wincenty Witos ( PSL Piast ), were sentenced to between one and a half and three years in prison .
