Cereus spegazzinii is a species of plant in the genus Cereus from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Cereus spegazzinii grows shrubby and is richly branched. The upright, arched or almost creeping, long cylindrical, blue-green shoots are often lighter marbled. They are up to 2 meters long and have a diameter of up to 6.5 centimeters. There are three to five ribs that are clearly broken up or dentate . The areoles on it are far apart. The initially two to three, later up to six thorns are blackish and up to 1.5 centimeters long.

The white flowers are 10 to 13 centimeters long and 7 to 9 centimeters in diameter. The ellipsoidal fruits are pink in color.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Cereus spegazzinii is distributed in Brazil , Mato Grosso do Sul , Paraguay , Bolivia and northern Argentina at altitudes of up to 1400 meters.

The first description was published in 1899 by Frédéric Albert Constantin Weber . A synonym is among others Cereus anisitsii K.Schum. (1899).

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
