life and work
Traugott Immanuel Jerichow was born in Löbau. After completing his studies, he acted as the rector of the Evangelical Principality School near Teschen . With the preachers Johann Ludwig Sassadius , Johann Adam Steinmetz and Johannes Muthmann as well as with the vice-principal Georg Sargeneck he was expelled from the city in 1730 during the persecution of the Protestants and initially fled to Leipzig . He then went to Copenhagen as a page steward . He also worked there as court preacher . From there he received a call as a preacher in the suburb of Oldenburg ; In 1733 he took up the position. On September 1 of the next year he died in Bremen, where he had been on the cure .
Jerichow composed some sacred songs. Let yourself, Ueberwinder, overcome by me was included in the second part of Johann Anastasius Freylinghausen's Spiritual Hymnbook in 1714 . In 1738 it was also included in the Klosterbergen hymnbook . Another of his songs is probably first found in 1733 in the Cöthens collection of songs by Johann Ludwig Konrad Allendorf . This too was first printed in the Klosterberger and then in other hymn books.
