Frédéric Albert Constantin Weber
Frédéric Albert Constantin Weber (born May 17, 1830 in Wolfisheim , † July 27, 1903 in Paris ) was a French doctor and botanist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " FACWeber ".
Live and act
Weber received his doctorate in medicine from the University of Strasbourg in 1852 with his work on cerebral hemorrhage De l'hémorrhagie des méninges cérébrales . He took part as a military surgeon in a French military expedition to Mexico from 1864 to 1867. On his return he described a variety of cacti and agaves . Most of his work was not published until after his death.
Taxa named after Weber
Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose named the genus Weberocereus of the cactus family of plants (Cactaceae) in his honor . Also the plant genus Weberiopuntia Frič ex Kreuz. from the same family is named after him.
