The Cerro El Cóndor is a 50 m high hill on Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It rises immediately to the west of Playa Marko on the east side of Cape Shirreff , the northern end of the John Paul II peninsula .
Scientists of the 45th Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1990–1991) named it so because the shadow it cast reminded them of a condor with outspread wings.
