The Cerro Quetena is an extinct volcano in the Potosí department in the mountainous region of the Cordillera de Lípez in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

The Cerro Quetena (also: Volcán Quetena ) has an altitude of 5730  m and is located in the Eduardo Abaroa nature reserve in the southernmost province of the department, the province of Sur Lípez , near the Bolivian border with Chile . The region's climate is semi-arid and has a pronounced time-of-day climate , with mean temperatures fluctuating more strongly during the day than during the year.

At the foot of the mountain are the two villages Quetena Grande and Quetena Chico (also: Peña Barrosa ) on the left, western bank of the Río Quetena , which flows over the Río Grande de Lípez to the Salar de Uyuni salt lake .
