Cesare De Lollis
Cesare De Lollis (born September 13, 1863 in Casalincontrada ; † April 25, 1928 ibid) was an Italian literary critic, historian, Romanist , Italianist, Hispanic , Provençalist and Germanist.
life and work
Cesare De Lollis was the son of the writer Alceste De Lollis (1820-1887). He studied in Florence and Rome with Napoleone Caix , Adolfo Bartoli , Girolamo Vitelli , Francesco D'Ovidio and Ernesto Monaci , and in Paris with Gaston Paris and Paul Meyer . From 1891 he taught Romance philology in Genoa, from 1905 French and Spanish literature in Rome, and finally from 1918 there (as successor to Ernesto Monaci) Romance philology. From 1907 he was co-editor (from 1921 sole editor) of the magazine La Cultura .
With Giovanni Gentile he belonged to the commission for the reform of the Accademia della Crusca ; he was appointed a member of the Ministry in 1923.
In Rome and Chieti a street bears his name. An international literature prize is named after him.
