Cevallia sinuata is a plant from the family of loasaceae (Loasaceae), and the only type of their species .
description
Cevallia sinuata is a subshrub that is covered with stinging, but not stinging hair. The hair has two hooks at the top. The leaf blades are alternate, are narrowly egg-shaped and curved at the edge.
The inflorescences are terminally similar to thyrsenic , typically with a dichasium on the very outside and additionally a monochasial or dichasial, strongly contracted paracladia . The flowers are five-fold and almost sessile, with two linear bracts per flower . The calyx lobes and the petals are of the same shape and size, unfgrown to the base, whitish and membranous. The connective of the stamens standing in front of the sepals is greatly elongated, at its end there is a club-shaped outgrowth, staminodes are missing.
The fruit is an egg-shaped capsule , on which sits the calyx, which is retained even after flowering.
The number of chromosomes is n = 13.

Cevallia sinuata is found in the deserts of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico.
Systematics
The species is classified in the subfamily Gronovioideae . It was first described in 1805 by Mariano Lagasca y Segura .
