Mariano Lagasca y Segura (born October 4, 1776 in Encinacowa , Aragon , † June 23, 1839 in Barcelona ) was a Spanish botanist . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is " Lag. "

Life

In 1818 he was accepted into the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina . From 1821 he was a corresponding member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences . His academic nickname was Bauhinus .

The journal Lagascalia (since 1971) and the plant genus Lagascea Cav. corr. Willd. from the sunflower family (Asteraceae) are named after him.
